Since 1989, the Kappa Xi chapter has run this mentoring group of high school males. The program, which has a 100 percent graduation rate, is being copied throughout the west by other fraternity chapters. The Gents go through a two-month rite of passage program in which they learn about Black history and, once inducted, are required to maintain a 2.0 grade point average, have a resume, e-mail address and exhibit decorum at all times. There is a mandatory study hour for those Gents with GPAs are below 2.5. Upperclassmen are required to take all standardized tests early and apply for scholarships and college early. The Gents participate in community service projects, including feeding the homeless, visiting senior centers, performing in community events, donating shoes to underprivileged youth; feeding needy families during the holidays; providing toys to children at Variety Early Learning Center; performing neighborhood clean-ups in Berkley Square in West Las Vegas and much, much more..
